Musical Theatre – A Critical Edition

MThCE is an international series of critical new editions of musical theatre works. The focus is on operettas, musicals and other subgenres of popular musical theatre.

The editions are produced using the tools of digital editorial philology.

The aim of the MThCE is to provide researchers, theatre practitioners and the general public with a scientifically verified, reliable text that serves both academic and practical performance purposes.

In doing so the edition responds to the strategies of reworking and updating popular musical theatre and reacts to the mobility of the genre.

MThCE provides orchestras, theatres, conductors and singers with scientifically verified and pragmatically applicable performance material, with the aim of creating access to historical sound realities.

An international cooperation between Salzburg University (AT), Greifswald University (D) and the music publishers Josef Weinberger (AT/D) and Musik und Bühne (D), funded by Land Salzburg.
